Nice, clean, quiet BBQ restaurant. Good for a spot of lunch! We started with the fried apple bites - super interesting and different. We had a smoked turkey, a pulled pork, and a brisket sandwich with fries all around. Everything came out fast, and super hot. The fries were straight out of the fryer, which I appreciate. The smoked turkey was fantastic!! And super affordable - all that and drinks came to $33 before tip.
Looking forward to going back! -

After reading the reviews on Yelp, we decided to stop here for some take out this afternoon. One of the reviewers even referred to this as the best BBQ in Western Carolina. Well, I'm here to say that this can't be the best in Western Carolina, or its a sad state of affairs in BBQ here. We ordered half a rack of baby back ribs, some pulled pork, smoked turkey and some sides.
I'm going to start with the ribs, because I know what I like, and this ain't it. Very little meat on ribs and they almost tasted oven baked instead of smoked. The pulled pork wasn't too bad. Still was moist and tasty. Paired with the tangy sauce (this was the only of the sauces that was palatable), it was good. The smoked turkey was the best of the main dishes. It's flavor was good.
The side dishes were a disaster. I like some mayo in my potato salad, but good gracious! I think the potatoes were doing the backstroke trying to stay afloat in there. The baked beans had a strange flavor that I could only describe as lemony. I can't be sure because I didn't want to try another bite. Last was the fries. I'm sorry, but I think the only fries that should EVER be with BBQ are crinkle cut. These shoestring fries were uninspired.
I'm going to try and find someplace else in the area tomorrow to try and turn around my opinion of Western Carolina BBQ. -

Excellent pulled pork for the Florida visitors. So happy to have stumbled across your little restaurant on our way back home. And y'all were super friendly, too!! The coleslaw should not be missed!!

I came to Willy's for some to-go barbecue. The folks at the front were very friendly. I got the beef brisket dinner with tangy and sweet bbq sauces. I got the fries, squash puppies and applesauce for my sides. It also came with Texas toast. I ordered some Brunswick stew as well. The Brunswick stew was phenomenal and I'm already craving more. The squash puppies which are hush puppies made with squash are also phenomenal. The fries and apple sauce were good. The brisket was a mix of lean and fatty. The bummer is that it was way over cooked and dry. Also wasn't a fan of either sauce. The meat had a good smoky flavor it was just too dry. Everything else was excellent and food came out fast but tasted fresh.

Good food. Service good. Lady at the register gets a little confused but is very sweet.
